Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) 2024
One Mission, One Family, Together in Christ is the theme of this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal, and this weekend kicks off the 2024 Campaign. The ACA funds ministries and services for our local Catholic community across Western Washington - including your neighbors and parish. This combined effort of parishes and missions ensures the availability of outreach ministries, education, faith formation, administration services for parishes and much more! You should have received Archbishop Etienne’s in-depth letter this week, officially kicking off the 2024 Annual Catholic Appeal!
HD Parish Goal: $87,912 OLGC Parish Goal: $9,881
All gifts received over our goals will be returned to our parishes to cover the cost of a 2nd handrail for the sidewalk leading down to the basement (OLGC) and for the expansion of the parking lot which has become essential for our weekly 10:30AM Sunday Mass (HD).
Please prayerfully consider how you can participate in helping our parishes be a light to others!

Public Input Phase findings released
On November 16, 2023, the archdiocese released a letter from Archbishop Etienne and a Parish Feedback Report which synthesizes more than 3,000 pages of feedback from over 700 input session reports and 800 online forms during the Public Input Phase this fall. A review of the feedback was made by the Presbyteral Council, Priest Personnel Board, Oversight Committee, Partners Core team and Archbishop Etienne. As a result, proposed changes emerged for 25 parish families. From now until mid-December, there will be a second round of consultation with staff and parishioners with these 25 proposed parish families before a final recommendation is submitted to Archbishop Etienne at the end of the year. Final parish families will be announced early 2024.

Synod on Synodality at the Vatican in Rome
The full schedule for the Synod assembly was published and will unfold on Oct 4, 2023. Please click here for opportunities to pray with Archbishop Etienne before he departs for Rome to participate as a Synod delegate, how we can be involved in the work of the Synod the next several weeks, Q&A and other resources.
Synod Update
Were you aware that Holy Disciples has a "Martha's Ministry"? This group of volunteers is led by Mary Margaret Kinsey, and they provide meals for parishioners who are dealing with illness or other health issues. The meals give families one less thing to worry about during a difficult time.
Both Our Lady of Good Counsel and Holy Disciples have a Homebound Ministry Outreach program. These volunteers provide prayer and Communion to those in need who cannot join us at Mass.
If you would like to volunteer for one or both of these ministries, please send an email with your name and phone number to Mary at paa@holydisciples.org.

Synod Extended through 2024
Pope Francis has extended the Synod on Synodality through 2024
Bishops will meet in Rome in both October of 2023 and October of 2024. Pope Francis’ decision reflects his desire that the church to discern the theme of synodality over a longer period. Also for the synod to be thought of as a process where (only by the grace of the Holy Spirit) the People of God walk together toward the Lord’s will for His Church. Certainly, the prayerful dialogue of the diocesan phase has created some energy, excitement, and shared vision of a Church that journeys together.
Read about our process and/or final combined summary report submitted to Archbishop Paul Etienne at the Chancery on May 6, 2022.
A hard copy with all documents is available in the office for review.
