“RCIA” stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The RCIA is the normal process through which adults are welcomed into full membership in the Catholic Church. It is the process through which adults are prepared to celebrate the three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Who can participate in RCIA?
- Adults (and children over the age of seven) who have never been baptized
- Christians who have been baptized into other denominations
- Catholics who were baptized as infants, but have no other experience in the Catholic Church
At Holy Disciples the RCIA participants gather on Thursday evenings to discuss Catholic Beliefs, Church Teachings and what it means to be Catholic in today’s world. The evenings always include opportunities to ask questions, to pray, and to enjoy the fellowship of our community. Each participant is assigned a sponsor from the parish who helps guide them along on their unique journey of faith.
The process begins with an informal interview with the RCIA Coordinator. Contact her to arrange for a date and time.
