About the CRS Rice Bowl

CRS Rice Bowl is a Lenten program of prayer, fasting, learning, and giving. The educational materials developed by Cathholic Relief Services (CRS) assist ongoing parish efforts in developing a spirituality of justice and solidarity with those most in need. Donations help fund CRS development projects in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America to produce more food, increase income and address poverty.

25% of contributions in Western Washington remain in the Seattle Archdiocese and are used for grants to parishes and organizations that help the poor in our area. Both the Graham-South Hill Food Bank at Holy Disciples and the Eatonville Family Agency are recipients of funds through this Rice Bowl grant program.

Using Your Rice Bowl

Put your bowl on your dinner table as a reminder of people in the world, our sisters and brothers, who go hungry. Consider reducing the expense of your meals during Lent and putting the money you save into the Rice Bowl.

You can also join others in the parish for a weekly Friday Night Soup Supper. Bring your own table setting and enjoy good soups made and donated by others. Again, the money you save can become "alms for the poor" in your Rice Bowl.

Returning Your Rice Bowl

If you participate in the Rice Bowl program this Lenten Season,  we ask that you return your bowl to the parish on Palm Sunday. A special collection will allow you to bring your Rice Bowl to the altar.

You can bring the entire bowl to Mass, or you can write a check (made out to the parish with “Rice Bowl” on the memo line), or you can donate online.
