Communion at Northwest Detention Center

Volunteers Needed

Special Request from Esmeralda Santos

As a Volunteer Coordinator for the Catholic Church Services at the NWDC, I would like to share with you the need for more volunteers to   help in this wonderful ministry. We currently offer Communion Services in Spanish only and we would like to offer them in English also.

Because we don't have enough volunteers to cover all 7 of the Communion Services we do each week, we are unable to offer English Services, therefore we desperately need more volunteers that speak English and/or Spanish.

We do 3 Services on Sundays starting at 1:00 pm,  2 on Mondays starting at 5:30 pm, and 2 on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm.  Each service is about 50 minutes long with a 10 minute turn over time.

Anyone that is interested must be able to pass a background check by ICE and attend a formal training by Chaplain Keith Henderson, a GEO Employee.

The dates and times of these trainings are not available yet but Chaplain Henderson offers approximately 4 trainings per year for new volunteers.

Also, the Seattle Archdiocese requires additional Called to Protect trainings and a background check.

If you are interested please contact me, Esmerelda Saltos, at or call 253-282-7760.
