Tribunal Advocate

Divorce Pain and Possibilities

We are aware that some of our parishioners have been hurt by divorce, and that some have remarried outside the Church and are not sure of their status. If you are in this situation (or know of someone who is) we encourage you to consider the annulment procedure of the Church.

An annulment is not a divorce; it does not dissolve an existing marriage. An annulment does not affect the legitimacy of the children of such a marriage. Cost should not be an issue (in the majority of cases the expense of annulments in our diocese is borne by your financial support of the parish and the Annual Catholic Appeal).

We have several volunteer “Tribunal Advocates” in our parish who have been specially trained by the Archdiocese to assist Catholics who would like to submit a petition to the Tribunal regarding a former marriage. All conversations are confidential.

Please contact the Parish Office to arrange to meet with an Advocate.
